F.A.Q.
IS THERE AN EMOTIONAL COMPONENT TO ROLFING?
Since your mind and body are two parts of a single system, there is a direct connection between any psychological trauma and your physical structure.  Rolfing can help you release emotional issues that have been stored in your body's tissue.  There is a strong connection between good health and positive attitude.  Rolfing is an experience that on a physical level produces higher energy, which contributes to and enhances  your self-image, self-confidence, and overall outlook on life.  Rolfing is a way to begin taking control of your health, allowing you to experience a higher quality of life-offering both a physical and psychological transformation.

DOES ROLFING LAST?
Yes.  Rolfing does not "cure" symptoms, but rather aligns (untwists) your whole body.  As a result, local problems, aches and pains, clear up on their own.  The re-education process of your body through Rolfing helps to change your body's course.  The effects of Rolfing are not only life-long, but also cumulative and progressive.

HOW DOES ROLFING VARY FROM OTHER FORMS OF BODY TREATMENT?
Rolfing is holistic because the goal is to invoke health and well-being rather than only attack local disfunction.  Rolfing sessions are cumulative; each session builds upon the result of the previous session while also preparing your body to expect the changes of the next session in the series.   Rolfers are focused on educating, organizing, and aligning (untwisting) your structure rather than relieving symptoms.  Rolfers work at integrating and restoring the body as a whole.  This puts Rolfing out of the "therapy" category and into the domain of "somatic education."

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
Rolfing sessions are $145.00.  Cash, checks or credit cards are accepted.  Children, up to the age of about 7 years, often receive a discount because their session goals are often accomplished much more quickly than adult sessions.  Infants, up to 2 years old, receive free work.

HOW ARE ROLFERS TRAINED?
Rolfers are trained and certified by the Rolf Institute in Boulder, Colorado.  The training includes the biological sciences, the theory of Rolfing, extensive clinical work under supervision, and work with the dynamics of the human structure in motion.
